Dear PNM,
Hey there! College is a time to make new memories, explore different opportunities, and discover new beginnings. As the new semester approaches, I take time to reflect on who I was right before I started my college journey. I remember thinking about how I would decorate my dorm, what my classes would look like, and the friends I would make along the way. I can whole heartedly say that the best memories, opportunities, and beginnings I have made were through the FSL community. Going through the recruitment process was a decision that I am thankful for everyday and I am happy to see many of you are interested in making the same decision.
My name is Cassie Contreras-Franco (she/her) and I am the Vice President of Membership for the Alpha Lambda chapter of Delta Gamma. I joined this chapter in 2022 and I have not stopped growing and learning ever since. This little white house has brought me an abundance of opportunities that I will never forget.
Making the decision to go through recruitment is one you’re making to join a community, not only within your sorority but all of FSL as well. While each chapter has its own values, philanthropy, and even colors and symbols, we all have the same mission of creating a wonderful community for one another. Therefore not only are you creating meaningful relationships within your sorority, but you also will within the other chapters creating a support system throughout your college years.
Delta Gamma has been there for me through ups and downs and I am thankful for the experiences I have created within this chapter. It warms my heart to think that many of you will experience the same feelings when joining a chapter. My fellow DG’s are there for me through making me laugh so hard my stomach hurts, always available when I need a sweet treat, are willing to go on a hot girl walk with me when needed, see me for who I am when I feel misunderstood, and in so many other ways. I am proud to be a part of this chapter where it's full of leaders on campus, intelligent, and authentic people. Many of us have studied abroad, had successful internships, and have a variety of passions that make our chapter blossom.
My only wish for those of you who are thinking about going through recruitment, is that you are able to find the home of your dreams where you feel the amount of support and encouragement I have found in mine. I invite you to try that new thing, seek those new connections, and find your perfect fit. I know that Delta Gamma cannot wait to meet and share our chapter with all of you. These next four years will help you grow, and I am hopeful that you will find that through the FSL community.
