Service Events
The Delta Gamma Fraternity sponsors Service for Sight, which works with organizations that help the visually impaired. Each Fraternity Chapter has its own unique ways in assisting the blind. The Alpha Lambda Chapter has helped with Vision Screenings in elementary schools through Prevent Blindness Iowa and our Golden Anchor Program partnering with Wesley Acres Retirement Center.
Our Golden Anchor Program is part of our Service for Sight hours where we assist the elderly in the Wesley Acres Retirement Center. Every week we have fun activities that allow us to interact and spend time with the residents of Wesley Aces. Most weekly activities include bingo, arts and crafts, donuts and coffee with residents, along with other events. We also do big annual events that the residents and sisters look forward to every year. For example, Snow Ball involves a live swing/jazz band for the residents to listen or dance to while we either dance with them or serve refreshments!
The women of Alpha Lambda have a passion for volunteering. Our dedication and interest for helping the community has been one of the main strengths in our chapter. We understand how incredibly rewarding it is to help people that are less fortunate. Not only has it impacted many of the lives we volunteer with and for, but has also positively impacted us as individuals. With a high involvement in volunteering, we are definitely a chapter that views the world with an open and caring mindset. DeeGees love "Doing Good!"
